3 vessels hit in Hormuz waters

Three vessels were struck by unknown projectiles in the Strait of Hormuz, maritime security and risk firms said on Wednesday, bringing the number of ships hit in the region since the Iran war began to at least 14.

The Thai-flagged dry bulk vessel Mayuree Naree was struck by two projectiles of unknown origin while sailing through the Strait of Hormuz on Wednesday, causing a fire and damaging the engine room, its Thai-listed operator Precious Shipping said. It was heading to India, AFP said According to vessel-tracking website VesselFinder, it was heading to Gujarat's Kandla.
"Three crew members are reported missing and believed to be trapped in the engine room," the company said.
Iran's Revolutionary Guards said they had struck a Liberia-flagged vessel, which they claimed was Israeli-owned, as well as a Thai bulk carrier.
