Decision based on traffic challenges, likely crowd

- HD Bureau

Police declined permission for a public meeting planned by TVK chief Vijay in Erode on 16 December, halting what was expected to be the party's largest show of strength in the western district after former minister K A Sengottaiyan crossed over to the organisation.

Officials confirmed that the application submitted by Sengottaiyan was examined and turned down on administrative grounds, drawing immediate political attention ahead of the actor-politician’s scheduled visit.

The decision is significant for TVK’s outreach strategy in the region, as Erode has long been acknowledged as the political base of Sengottaiyan, a nine-time MLA who previously held key portfolios. His move to the party after expulsion from AIADMK altered local political equations, prompting both anticipation and scrutiny around his first major organisational task.
