Visitors register 41-run victory as Kohli’s 54th ton goes in vain
Daryl Mitchell's second consecutive hundred and Glenn Phillips’ blistering century and some sharp bowling powered New Zealand to a 41-run victory that saw them record a historic first-ever ODI series win in India in the series-deciding third ODI here on Sunday.
Virat Kohli's 54th ODI hundred was just not enough in the end as he ran out of partners apart from Harshit Rana (52) as India were bowled out for 296 in 46 overs.
Earlier, Mitchell (137) and Phillips (106) stitched together a 219-run partnership for the fourth wicket that turned the innings on its head.
Calm and authoritative, Mitchell anchored the stand while Phillips provided the momentum, allowing New Zealand to shift gears after a cautious start.
