Canon is one of the leading camera/lens manufacturers. The RF 16-28mm f/2.8 IS STM lens is designed for Canon mirrorless cameras using the RF mount (current full frame mirrorless models). The lens would make an ideal companion to landscape, architectural and travel photographers/videographers, and those who need to work in confined spaces. The lens was introduced in India towards the end of January 2025.

Design

The Canon RF 16-28mm f/2.8 IS STM lens has good build quality - nearing (but not quite) that of Canon's L-series pro lenses. The lens extends by approximately 1 cm when zooming from the 28mm to the 16mm position. The lens is compact, lightweight (445g) and dust/weather resistant. Filter thread is 67mm. The lens is made in Japan.

The full frame Canon RF 16-28mm f/2.8 IS STM lens is constructed with 16 elements in 13 groups that include four Ultra-low Dispersion (UD) and two aspherical elements that help mitigate chromatic aberrations and improve colour accuracy. When used on APS-C bodies, it offers an equivalent focal length of 25.6-44.8mm.
