Six-year-old booked for breach of peace

In a startling case from Uttar Pradesh’s Aligarh district, a sub-inspector of Quarsi police station has been suspended after filing a peace disturbance report against a six-year-old boy, falsely recording him as a 40-year-old man. The bizarre error came to light when a court notice summoned the Class 1 student to appear in person. The matter originated from a dispute over the installation of a door between two neighbours in Rajeev Nagar.

Sub-Inspector Shivam Kumar Tyagi, who was assigned to handle the complaint, included all family members in his report to the Additional City Magistrate (ACM) Court. However, the officer mistakenly listed the complainant’s six-year-old son as an adult party in the “breach of peace” case.
