Pre-poll relief packages coming

The government is preparing a wide-ranging financial package for state employees, government teachers and welfare pensioners, marking a potentially significant fiscal commitment ahead of upcoming local body elections.

According to departmental sources, the plan involves raising the monthly welfare pension by Rs 200, clearing a portion of dearness allowance arrears owed to employees, and initiating a salary revision for government staff. Officials indicate that the package may be officially announced by the Chief Minister in the state assembly on Kerala Piravi Day, November 1.
