PCMC tightens poll media checks

The Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has announced strict monitoring of election campaigns by aspiring corporators to ensure compliance with norms laid down by the Maharashtra State Election Commission (SEC), officials said on Wednesday.

"No individual is allowed to advertise or campaign on social media on behalf of a political party or candidate without their written permission. The cost of such advertisements will be added to the election expenditure account of the concerned political party or candidate," PCMC Commissioner and Election Officer Shravan Hardikar said.

He said candidates must obtain pre-certification from the Media Certification and Monitoring Committee (MCMC) before publishing any advertisement.
