Political parties in Tamil Nadu have begun sharpening their electoral arithmetic as the State heads towards its next Assembly election, with early signals suggesting that welfare delivery, voter mobilisation and alliance cohesion will dominate the campaign narrative.

Chief Minister and Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam president M. K. Stalin set the tone earlier this week by publicly articulating a numerical target of 2.5 crore votes for the DMk-led formation. The figure marks a significant escalation from the 2021 Assembly election, when the front secured about 2.09 crore votes to return to power after a decade in opposition.
