NOCs for redevelopment of cessed buildings within 6 weeks

The vice president and chief executive of Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA), Sanjeev Jaiswal, on Wednesday announced a decision to fast-track old cessed buildings' redevelopment approvals.

Under the new directive, proposals submitted under Section 79A (1a) or 79A (1b) accompanied by 51% consent of residents would receive a no-objection certificate (NOC) within six weeks. This approval process will now be governed under the Right to Service Act.

In the event of any delay beyond the stipulated period, the NOC will be treated as deemed approved. The announcement was made at the second redevelopment conference and investor summit at Bandra.
