Metal testers to estimate original gold

A special investigation team appointed by the high court of Kerala is preparing to deploy portable electronic metal testing devices to determine the gold content of original gilt moulds donated by industrialist Vijay Mallya to the Sabarimala temple in 1998.
The move marks an escalation in what has become a high-stakes probe into the integrity of temple assets.
Investigators with the SIT are considering the use of onsite X-ray-based testers so that they can assess gold layers in the panels and plating without physically damaging the artefacts.
