DAY OF GOVT SETBACKS

Kerala High Court has annulled a key government clearance granted to Oasis Commercial Private Limited for establishing an ethanol and liquor manufacturing unit in Palakkad, dealing a setback to the state administration's industrial approval process and reopening scrutiny of how such projects are vetted.

The court held that the preliminary sanction issued earlier this year rested on facts that were not correct in their entirety, rendering the decision legally unsu st ainable. A Division Bench comprising Justices Sathish Ninan and P. Krishna Kumar set aside the government order dated January 16, 2025, which had given Oasis Co mmercial Private Limited an initial nod to proceed with the project.
