The dress, commissioned by a Malayali nurse based in Australia, has become a topic of fascination on social media and in fashion circles, spotlighting artisans working beyond the metropolitan hubs.

BinuP A, the sole proprietor of the single-room shop, received the order via Dr Rintu, a longtime family friend. The design was chosen by Dr Rintu, who sent a Pinterest reference with precise dimensions. Initially, they discussed a 40-metre length, but when Binu evaluated the layout, he advised that a far longer train was required. “When I saw the design and measurements, I realised it would be much longer,” he recounts.

The gown is intended for an overseas event, and the client insisted on exact fidelity to the reference model. “I wanted it exactly like the model I showed him,” Dr Rintu says. “It was meant for a special occasion.” The dress is now on its journey to the UK after careful packaging and handling.
