Awami League ramps up pressure on Yunus as confrontation mounts
The Free Press Journal - Bhopal
|November 16, 2025
The political standoff in Bangladesh deepened on Friday as the Sheikh Hasina-led Bangladesh Awami League intensified its agitation against the interim government headed by Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus.
With Yunus under increasing pressure after announcing that a referendum will be held alongside national elections—a longstanding demand of a hardline Islamist party—the Awami League has rolled out an expanded protest calendar.
“Our struggle will continue... Nationwide protests, demonstrations, and resistance programmes on Friday and Saturday, November 14 and 15. A total nationwide shutdown on Sunday and Monday, November 16 and 17. The movement will continue until Yunus resigns,” the party declared.

Wright's version hews closer to King’s grim novel than the 1987 camp classic, trading quips for cultural critique.

CELEBRATION OF DEPARTURE
This week, Nisha’s Mumbai is all about Zarine Khan's departure. In a strange, almost surreal way, the days following Zarine Khan's passing felt less like mourning and more like a wedding — a poignant celebration, a radiant farewell to an angel.

Microscopy to Nanoscopy
There is a human tendency to believe in what is actually seen by the eye. The universe, however, is made of objects all of which cannot be seen with the naked eye. Today, as we understand, the eye is a human instrument having a convex lens in it which possesses a limited resolving power.
