“This is a moment of profound relief for the hostages, their families, and the civilians of Gaza who have endured unimaginable suffering,” Starmer said, thanking mediators and stressing the need for “the immediate lifting of all restrictions on lifesaving humanitarian aid.”
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen both hailed the truce, commending the mediation efforts. Macron called it “a great hope for the hostages and for the people of Gaza,” while von der Leyen urged “all sides to uphold the terms of the agreement” and pledged EU support for Gaza’s recovery and reconstruction.
