Former President Donald Trump has denied knowledge of Elon Musk bringing drugs into the White House, following swirling allegations about the tech mogul's alleged substance use during his time in government service.
Speaking to reporters on June 9, 2025, Trump responded cautiously when asked directly about Musk: "I really don't know. I don't think so. I hope not."
These comments come in the wake of a late-May New York Times report that cited unnamed sources claiming Musk had used ketamine, ecstasy, and psychedelic mushrooms during the 2024 campaign season.
While the report did not confirm whether any of the alleged drug use occurred on federal property or during official government duties, it has sparked significant public interest and concern, especially given Musk's prominent role in Trump's administration.
Musk served as a high-profile advisor on innovation and federal cost-cutting, and was charged with identifying inefficiencies in government spending.
His sudden resignation earlier this year, reportedly due to disagreements over Trump's ambitious federal spending bill, raised eyebrows.
What had initially been seen as a surprising yet effective alliance between Trump and Musk has since cooled significantly.
Despite the recent controversy, Trump refrained from condemning Musk.
