Politics in Delhi heats up over SIR of voter list

Politics in Delhi has intensified after the Election Commission announced a Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list in the capital for the first time in 20 years.
The BJP has accused the Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) of creating fake votes for Bangladeshi infiltrators.
Although no elections are scheduled in Delhi at present, the issue of bogus voters has reignited political tensions. The inclusion of alleged Bangladeshi and Rohingya infiltrators in the electoral roll had been a major flashpoint during the 2025 Delhi Assembly elections. Following Bihar, the Delhi Election Commission has now initiated the SIR and released the 2020 voter list in the public domain a move welcomed by the BJP.
