Their bodies were discovered nearly two weeks later, decomposing in their home after a welfare check was requested due to Casap's extended absence from school. According to investigators, the mother's body was found under a pile of clothes and blankets, while Mayer's body was discovered in the home office. Both had sustained gunshot wounds, and authorities suspect the killings were part of a larger, more sinister plan.
