Kerala High Court Says Question Of Territorial Jurisdiction Can Be Decided During Trial; Sharon Murder Case

The Kerala High Court in the case Greeshma @ Sreekutty & Others V State Of Kerala observed and has left the issue of territorial jurisdiction in Sharon murder case to be determined during trial. Thus, this was after both the defence and the prosecution made a statement to that effect

The bench of Justice PV Kunhikrishnan in its order stated that now when both the side submitted that the question may be left open and that may be decided during the trial…granting liberty to the petitioner to raise the question of jurisdiction during the trial.

The court was hearing the issue raised by prime accused Greeshma, wherein it is claimed that the courts in Kerala lack the jurisdiction to try the case as the alleged offence took place beyond their territorial limits, in Tamil Nadu.
