Judiciary acts due to executive's inaction: Luthra on Sanyal remarks

A fresh controversy has started after Sanjeev Sanyal, a member of the Prime Minister's Economic Advisory Council, made a statement about the judiciary.
He called it the ‘biggest hurdle’ in India’s progress towards Viksit Bharat.
His remarks, reportedly made at a public event, have drawn sharp criticism and even triggered calls for contempt proceedings.
Two advocates: Rohit Pandey, former secretary of the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA), and Ujjawal Gaur, a member of the SCBA, have written to Attorney General R. Venkataramani seeking consent to initiate criminal contempt proceedings against Sanyal.
Under Section 15 of the Contempt of Courts Act, 1971, such permission is mandatory before private individuals can move forward with contempt action.
