South Africa's High Commissioner to India, Anil Sooklal, on Thursday highlighted the vast untapped potential in India-Africa trade and called for deeper economic engagement between the two regions, speaking at the NXT Summit 2026 at Bharat Mandapam.
Addressing delegates on Day 1 of the summit, Sooklal noted that trade between India and Africa currently stands at just over $100 billion, with India-South Africa bilateral trade accounting for about $20 billion, nearly 20 per cent of the total. However, he said the figure represents only "the tip of the iceberg" given the vast opportunities across the African continent.
