India ready for long war impact: Modi
The Daily Guardian
|March 24, 2026
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said India has taken comprehensive measures to shield its economy and citizens from the fallout of the ongoing West Asia conflict, asserting that adequate fertiliser supplies, coal stocks and energy arrangements are in place despite mounting global uncertainty.
Addressing the Lok Sabha, Modi said the government has ensured sufficient fertiliser availability for the upcoming Kharif season, emphasising that farmers will not bear the burden of global disruptions. He noted that six urea plants commissioned over the past decade have added 7.6 million tonnes of capacity, strengthening domestic supply amid concerns over imports from the region.
Reassuring the country on power supply ahead of summer, the Prime Minister said coal stocks at power plants are adequate to meet rising electricity demand.
