Harsh Sanghavi: Gujarat's multifaceted minister driving security and progress

His portfolio comprises Home, Civil Defence, Prison, and Industry. He also holds independent charge of Disaster Management, Sports, Youth Services, Non-Resident Gujaratis' Division, Transport, alongside his role as State Minister of Cultural Activities.

Sanghavi's influence spans security, sports, industry development, and cultural promotion. His active leadership has positioned him as a trusted ally of both Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah.

Sanghavi's tenure as Home Minister has been marked by bold initiatives to strengthen law and order. In February 2025, he spearheaded the creation of the Special Action Force (SAF), repurposing the State Reserve Police's Ahmedabad Company to combat communal riots, reflecting Gujarat's zero-tolerance policy on violence.

His focus on cybercrime has set national precedents. Following the February 2025 Rajkot CCTV leakage case, where hackers distributed sensitive hospital footages, Sanghavi oversaw the invocation of Section 66F(2) of the IT Act for cyber-terrorism; this section of the Act was used for the first time in India for such cases, setting a right kind of precedent.
