France battles worst wildfire in 80 years

Firefighters in France are battling the nation's most devastating wildfire in almost 80 years for a third straight day, with more than 16,000 hectares already scorched in the southern Aude region, France 24 reported.
The massive blaze, which erupted on Tuesday near the Mediterranean Sea, roughly 100 kilometers from the Spanish border, remains out of control. One person has died, three others are missing, and two individuals—including a firefighter—are in critical condition.
"As of now, the fire has not been brought under control," Christophe Magny, one of the firefighting coordinators, told BFM TV. "I hope the blaze could be contained later in the day."
