Delhi Police bust fake currency racket, three held

The Delhi Police have busted a fake currency racket and arrested three men, including the kingpin, for allegedly manufacturing and circulating counterfeit notes during the festive season, particularly to purchase liquor, officials said on Tuesday.

The accused used genuine green strips from children’s play money, carefully pasted on forged notes to make them appear authentic.

Those arrested have been identified as Vivek Maurya (32), a printer by trade who has been making fake notes for the past five to six years; Ravi Arora (50), the alleged mastermind; and his brother Rakesh Arora (50), who managed the circulation network, Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Surender Kumar said.
