‘The World Health Organization (WHO) and The Lancet have sounded a stark warning that continued inaction on climate change is claiming millions of ives each year and threatening global health, economies, and livelihoods.

Ina joint statement issued on Wednesday, the organisations called for urgent recognition of healthas the most powerful driver of climate action.

The warning comes with the release of the 2025 Lancet Countdown on Health and Climate Change, produced in collaboration with WHO. The report found that 12 of 20 key indicators tracking health threats have reached record levels, highlighting how overreliance on fossil fuels and failure to adapt to a warming planetare taking a devastating toll on human health.
