ANCIENT WISDOM FOR MODERN WOMEN: AYURVEDIC REMEDIES FOR COMMON FEMALE HEALTH ISSUES

Ayurveda, the ancient Indian system of natural healing, views a woman's body as deeply connected to the cycles of nature. It offers time-tested, holistic remedies for various female health problems that modern women frequently face, including menstrual irregularities, PCOS, menopause, and stress-induced hormonal imbalance.

Ayurveda believes that good health arises from harmony between the three doshas—Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. When these become imbalanced due to poor diet, stress, or lifestyle habits, it leads to disease or discomfort. This article explores Ayurvedic insights and remedies to support women's health naturally.

1. MENSTRUAL IRREGULARITIES

Irregular periods, painful cramps (dysmenorrhea), and heavy bleeding are common concerns. Ayurveda links such issues to Vata and Pitta imbalance.

Common Causes (According to Ayurveda):

Excessive consumption of spicy, sour, or dry foods

Cold exposure during periods

Mental stress

Suppression of natural urges (like sneezing, urination)

Ayurvedic Remedies:

Ashoka (Saraca indica): Known as a uterine tonic, Ashoka bark regulates menstrual flow and reduces pain.

Lodhra (Symplocos racemosa): Helps balance hormones and improves endometrial health.

Ginger tea with jaggery: Eases cramps and promotes blood flow.

Castor oil abdominal massage: Soothes pain and supports uterine health.

Diet Tips:

Include warm, cooked foods

Avoid cold beverages and processed snacks

Use spices like cumin, fennel, turmeric, and coriander

2. POLYCYSTIC OVARIAN SYNDROME (PCOS/PCOD)

PCOS is a hormonal disorder causing irregular periods, weight gain, acne, and infertility. Ayurveda sees it as a Kapha-Vata imbalance, with metabolic sluggishness and hormonal disruption at its core.
