Dream comes true for Cornish writer asked to pen Minack academy play
The Cornishman
|July 03, 2025
A NEW play filled with magic, mystery and the history of Cornwall has been commissioned by the Minack Theatre.

Written by local playwright Tamara Rosenwyn, Pearl o' Wisdom will be premiered at the Minack on July 16 and 17 before embarking on a tour of venues across the county.
Tamara, who began writing plays for her village through her group, the Lizard Arts, Film and Theatre Association, was discovered after joining workshops with writing centre The Writers' Block and showing her work to script editor Jane Pugh.
Following a successful community performance last summer she was invited by Minack associate director John Brolly to write an original play for its academy.
Pearl o' Wisdom was inspired by Tamara's experience as a carer and her Cornish heritage.
Pearl, a sharp-witted elderly woman, and her teenage carer Rose reconnect with their imaginations through Celtic myth, sprites and a standing stone.
