Women overtake men in property

More women are becoming first-time homeowners, a clear indication that they are determined to achieve financial independence and build generational wealth, despite some of the income disparities that still exist.

There has been a steady increase in the number of women entering the property market over the past 10 years, with female first-time homebuyers now overtaking their male counterparts, said Careen Mckinon, head of sales at ooba Home Loans.

"An increasing number of women view property ownership as a key marker of financial independence."
