Proteas captain Temba Bavuma was full of praise for their batting line-up yesterday, after he joined Tristan Stubbs in a spectacular partnership, with the hosts tightening their grip on the third day of the opening Test against Sri Lanka in Durban.

South Africa are set to turn to the field today on the verge of near-certain victory this morning, with Sri Lanka needing to climb a mountain over the last two days of the match, thanks largely to centuries from Bavuma and Stubbs.

"In terms of the batting line-up, we're getting to a stage where we're starting to believe that in each innings someone can go on to get a hundred, so it's good to add to that confidence," Bavuma said after the close of play.
