BETTING: LAST YEAR’S CHAMPION EIGHT ON EIGHTEEN TOPS BOOKMAKERS’ BOARDS

- Jack Milner

Met field finalised tomorrow

DOUBLE SEEKER. Eight On Eighteen has been priced up 5-2 favourite to win the R5-million World Sports Betting Cape Town Met over 2000m at HWB Kenilworth on 31 January.

(Wayne Marks)

We are just a couple of days away from finding out the final field for this year’s R5-million World Sports Betting Cape Town Met.

Declarations for the Grade 1 race over 2000m at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth on 31 January close at 11.00 tomorrow and the final field will be unveiled at a function later in the day which will include barrier positions.

This is Cape Town's richest race day with R8,750,000 in stake money on offer.

At this stage there are still 17 runners in the hat, and many eyes will be on Justin Snaith-trained Eight On Eighteen who will be looking to notch up a race double. Not taking any chances, bookmakers have him trading as the 5-2 favourite with Hollywoodbets Durban July and L'Ormarins King’s Plate winner The Real Prince at 9-2.
