It's time to take action for healthier, happier pets

October marks Pet Obesity Month and although it's almost over, you still need to reflect on your pet's health, particularly their weight and nutrition.

According to Dr Karien Brink, a vet at Hill's Pet Nutrition, pet obesity is the most significant health threat facing pets today.

Surprisingly, 90% of owners are unaware that their pets are overweight.

With over 50% of pets affected, the issue is more serious than many realise.

Brink provides a checklist to help pet owners determine if their pet may be overweight:

Does your pet struggle to catch their breath during walks or when climbing stairs?

Have they become noticeably less active or eager to play?

Are they looking rounder, with ribs that are hard to feel, a broader back, a severe abdominal bulge, or fat deposits around the neck and tail?
