Heathcliff, Muscutt to win again
The Citizen
|February 12, 2025
Heathcliff was a real eye-catcher on his most recent outing and is fancied to build on that in the Free Bet With Unibet's Bet-builder Rebound Handicap at Kempton today.
-
Returning from an absence of over two months, James Fanshawe's four-year-old received no luck in running in a hot Newcastle contest, being bumped at the start and getting cut off by eventual winner Marshman when ready to make a forward move just over 200m out.
Once eventually in the clear, Heathcliff came home strongly to finish fourth, beaten less than two lengths, and Marshman has since franked the form by landing the Listed Kachy Stakes at Lingfield.
Heathcliff was most progressive throughout last season, winning three times at this track, and everything points towards him enjoying another successful campaign in 2025.
Daniel Muscutt, who rode Double Superlative to victory in last year's Cape Town Met, will have to overcome a tricky draw, but the cut-off in Kempton's home straight usually ensures there is plenty of racing room for those coming from behind.
