CAPTAIN Kenton Richardson believes Gateshead’s dismal run of form has deserved criticism - and warned his teammates only they can turn their fortunes around.

Preserving their National League status remains the only focus for Alun Armstrong’s men this season after they suffered defeats in FA Cup and FA Trophy ties in recent weeks.

Their plight has been heightened by an abysmal run of form that has now brought seven consecutive defeats in all competitions since they produced an FA Cup first round shock at League One club AFC Wimbledon in November.

Their slide down the table has taken Gateshead into the relegation zone ahead of Sunday's home clash with Eastleigh and Richardson has challenged his teammates to secure a long-awaited win and get their season ‘moving forwards’ once again.
