Trump's licence threat

The Chronicle

September 20, 2025

US President Donald Trump has suggested that if any TV networks only give him bad press “maybe their licence should be taken away’.

Mr Trump was speaking after US TV host Jimmy Kimmel’s show was taken off air following comments he made about the fatal shooting of conservative activist Charlie Kirk. The decision by US network ABC to pull Jimmy Kimmel Live! from its schedules has led to widespread criticism and claims of government censorship, including from Hollywood stars.

Mr Trump was questioned on the matter by reporters onboard Air Force One as he left the UK following his state visit this week.
