Toon ‘target’ never planned to leave Barca

NEWCASTLE United's rumoured transfer target Fermin Lopez has made it clear that he never planned to leave Barcelona this season.

Several Premier League clubs, including United, reportedly expressed interest in the 22-year-old midfielder over the summer. In late August, El Chiringuito TV claimed the Magpies were prepared to offer Barcelona a staggering £87million for the Spain international, whilst also quadrupling the player's wages.
But the reports were somewhat odd given that Newcastle had just pulled off the £43m signing of Jacob Ramsey from Aston Villa, who occupies the same position in attacking midfield.
