Steelmen in second spot after routine win against Colliers

CONSETT manager Jason Miller warned his side against showing any complacency after they strolled to a comfortable home win against Ashington on Friday night.

The Steelmen produced a dominant first-half display to lay the foundations for a victory that ensured they sat in second place in the East Division table ahead of Saturday's fixtures.

After making all of the early running, Miller's men grabbed a deserved lead with ten minutes on the clock as Isaac Walker opening the scoring and Brendon Daniels and Matty Todd both netted to take the hosts out of sight by halftime.

Ashington improved marginally in the second half - but they were unable to create many meaningful openings and it seemed fitting it was Consett that had the final say as Walker doubled his tally with the final kick of the game as torrential rain battered Belle View. A visibly delighted Miller praised his players for producing a ‘commanding performance’ - but he also stressed the need for calm as his side enjoy a fine run of form.
