DAME Norma Redfearn, who has dominated North Tyneside Council since 2013, has bid farewell and extended her thanks to residents.

The former Mayor has now been succeeded by Labour colleague and cabinet member Karen Clark.
The newly-elected mayor only just pipped Reform UK's John Falkenstein to the post but has pledged to carry on the “legacy” of her predecessor.
Speaking to the residents of North Tyneside, Dame Norma said: “Well I think they have been really positive to us, particularly helpful and supportive to get things done and make a difference.
