A NEWCASTLE-BASED engineering firm has announced a number of redundancies as part of restructuring efforts within the business.

Responsive Engineering at Armstrong Works on Scotwood Road has said the proposals have “not been taken lightly”.

It is understood that around 37 jobs are at risk at the firm, with a source saying the redundancies come following a “downturn in work". Despite the risk of redundancies, the firm - which was acquired by Rafael Advanced Defense Systems Ltd in 2022 - confirmed that no key contracts have ended.
