Our allotments will not be sold - deputy mayor

THE Deputy Mayor of North Tyneside has said there are no plans to sell off any of the council-owned allotments.
It comes amid controversy over the local government minister, Angela Rayner's, approval of the sale of eight such sites throughout England since Labour came to power.
A spokesperson for the ministry of housing, communities, and local government has also stated the sale of allotments in 2024 were lower than the average in recent years. The National Allotment Society (NAS) said they would "reassure plot holders and the wider public that no change has been made to the statutory protections afforded to allotments in England and Wales".
