Newcastle cancelled as frost bites into fixtures

NEWCASTLE's jumps card today has been cancelled due to a frozen track, as the weather threatens to wreck havoc on this weekend's fixtures.

Newcastle failed an initial inspection at 8am yesterday and there was little improvement at the midday check when the card was scrapped due to frozen ground.
Sandown were relying on the frost covers giving them a “fighting chance" of beating last night's forecast freeze having called an inspection ahead of today's racing.
Officials are due to assess conditions at 8am today with temperatures set to drop below freezing in what was predicted to be one of the coldest nights of the winter so far.
