Doppelganger is a dark comedy about the repercussions of meeting your exact double.

It has been created as part of a new series of seven short-form dramas made for the BBC. They have been created by emerging writers, directors and producers from across the UK.

The drama was written by Newcastle-based playwright Alison Carr and directed by filmmaker Zak Harney. And it is Gateshead-based Candle & Bell’s third BBC commission, following two series of the Radio 4 comedy Tom & Lauren Are Going OOT!

The 13-minute film was shot across Metro locations as well as other places in Newcastle. During the opening scene, a red balloon can be seen floating down the escalator at St James Metro station before drifting on board a train.
