'I was terrified, but I had to make a stand'

SHOPLIFTER LOCKED INSIDE STORE AFTER DEMANDING CASH FROM TILL

A TERRIFIED shop manager locked a shoplifter inside the premises until police arrived.

Andrea Graham was working alone at Venus Express in Sheriff Hill, Gateshead, when a man targeted the store.

The 55-year-old claims the male tried to steal two bags of alcohol and then demanded money from the till on December 5.

Andrea was on the phone to her husband Mark, 54, at the time and he arrived quickly.

The pair locked him in the small independent business on Sheriffs Highway, called police and kept him there until officers arrived.
