A time to respect our heroes

UNITED do an awful lot right these enlightened days and we're truly grateful for that after years of dross.

However, I feel I must take up the cudgel on behalf of a large number of disgruntled fans about what is perceived as an apparent lack of respect shown to former players.

I'm talking about honouring their passing with a minute's silence or, much better, a minute's applause to pay formal tribute to what they did on our behalf.

The club failed to do so when Wyn Davies left us recently and again at the weekend to mark the death of Willie McFaul.
