THE board of Chester FC issued a statement to supporters after the National League North play-off final defeat to Scunthorpe United.

They thanked the fans for the unwavering support they have received this season.
The statement read: “To have come so close to achieving our target and fall short together at the final hurdle hurts, and we will all be feeling that pain.
“There is a thin line between glory and defeat in play-off campaigns, and on this occasion, we congratulate Scunthorpe United on their victory and promotion to the National League.
“While we are disappointed, we are also incredibly proud of our football club. Proud of our manager and backroom team, proud of our players, and proud of our incredible supporters.
