Vigilance Takes Majithia to Mashobra in Assets Probe
The Business Guardian
|July 01, 2025
In a fresh development in the disproportionate assets case against senior Shiromani Akali Dal leader and former minister Bikram Singh Majithia, the Punjab Vigilance Bureau on Sunday took him to Mashobra, a high-end locality near Shimla in Himachal Pradesh, to verify properties allegedly linked to him.
This move comes amid an intensifying probe into allegations that Majithia amassed illegal assets worth 540 crore. According to officials, today's field visit to Mashobra was aimed at physical verification of real estate suspected to be part of the unlawful wealth under investigation.
The case, rooted in the 2021 NDPS charges, has gained momentum over the past few days. Multiple key witnesses have recorded their statements, including former Punjab DGP Siddharth Chattopadhyaya, Majithia's former personal assistant Talbir Singh Gill, and businessmen known to be close to the former minister. Sources said the Vigilance team reached Mashobra with Majithia early in the day and conducted spot verification of properties listed in official documents and financial disclosures collected during previous raids.
