The Supreme Court in the case Karti P Chidambaram v. The Directorate of Enforcement and connected cases observed and is set to hear the writ petitions filed against the Vijay Madanlal Choudhary judgement, which upheld various provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, PMLA.
The bench comprising of Justice Surya Kant, Justice CT Ravikumar (now retired) and Justice Ujjal Bhuyan was hearing the present matter.
However, after the retirement of Justice Ravikumar, a need arose for reconstitution of the bench.
The petitions were first listed on August 07, 2024, but the hearing kept getting adjourned ever since.
The present matter is listed before a two-judge bench of Justices Kant and N Kotiswar Singh on March 06, 2025.
