Nifty hits all-time high, Sensex gains 200 points at open

Indian stock markets surged to new highs on Friday, with the Nifty 50 and Sensex indices leading the charge.

The Nifty 50 index reached a new peak of 23,667.10, gaining 70 points to settle at 23,640, while the Sensex climbed over 200 points to 77,674 in early trading. These gains underscored the buoyant sentiment in the Indian equity markets.

Broader market indices such as the Nifty Midcap, Nifty Small Cap, and Nifty 100 also experienced gains, indicating widespread positive momentum. However, not all sectors shared in the rally. Sectoral indices on the National Stock Exchange, including Nifty Bank, Nifty Auto, Nifty Financial Services, Nifty FMCG, Nifty Private Bank, and Nifty Realty, recorded losses, reflecting a more nuanced market performance.

Ajay Bagga, a banking and market expert, commented on the market dynamics, noting that the US markets had a soft close after seven consecutive days of gains, particularly with some selling pressure on Big Tech stocks.
