MCD Orders NGOs to Prioritize Ferocious Stray Dogs in Drives

The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has directed all NGOs working with it for sterilization and immunization of canines to first pick up "ferocious" dogs from vulnerable places and maintain detailed records, including CCTV footage of the captured animals.
The civic body has also instructed its zonal veterinary officers to work alongside the NGOs and ensure that the stray dogs are handed over to the nearest Animal Birth Control (ABC) centers.
As part of the process, the NGOs and veterinary officers must ensure that every stray dog picked up is recorded through the 311 mobile application, with daily reports submitted from their respective areas to the officials concerned.
The directive follows the Supreme Court's order of August 11, which instructed authorities in Delhi-NCR to begin picking up stray dogs from all localities "at the earliest" and relocating them to designated dog shelters.
