Over 2,000 people have been relocated due to severe flooding caused by the Panchaganga river exceeding the danger mark in Kolhapur district, western Maharashtra, officials reported on Friday.

The Kolhapur district administration confirmed that the Panchaganga River’s water level at Rajaram Weir reached 45.2 feet by noon on Friday, surpassing the danger mark of 43 feet.

Kolhapur collector Amol Yedge stated that the district administration began relocating residents from affected areas, including Sutarwada and Kumbharwada in the city, as well as Chikhli and Ambewadi in Karveer tehsil and villages in Hatkalangane, Shirol, and Ichalkaranji tehsils.
