IT firms urged to enhance women’s representation efforts

Over the past year, the share of women employees in the IT sector has hovered between 36-39%, indicating a stagnation in efforts to achieve gender balance. Experts caution that while the IT sector boasts relatively high women's representation compared to some other industries, there are concerning trends emerging, particularly in terms of women exiting at the middle and senior levels.

The persistence of a gender gap in the IT sector is multifaceted, reflecting broader societal challenges as well as specific issues within the industry itself. Stereotypes and biases, both explicit and implicit, continue to hinder the advancement of women in technology roles. Additionally, structural barriers such as lack of access to mentorship, unequal pay, and limited opportunities for career progression contribute to the underrepresentation of women in leadership positions within IT companies.
